Rental market shows signs of stress after Renters’ Rights Act

Three months after the Renters’ Rights Act became law, early market data suggests the legislation may be producing unintended consequences. Goodlord’s Rental Index shows rent inflation jumped from 1.7% to 6.5% in June, whilst restrictions on advance rent payments appear to be excluding international students and others without UK guarantors from the rental market.
